On Sabbath, November 28, 2020, Southeast SDA dedicated a service of praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. The autumn sun, which shone so brightly that day, enhanced a true spirit of gratitude.
Worship leaders, vocalist Stacey Arielle and keyboardist Rodney Hubbard, along with Southeast Praise Team members Adrienne Johnson-Hankton and Kaye Gilleylen, lifted their voices in songs of thanksgiving and heartfelt testimonies that touched on personal experiences with Covid-19, cancer and healing. The service consisted of a constant outpouring of thanksgiving to a Lord who never ceases giving to us.
The year 2020 has been one of the most challenging the world has ever experienced. Sickness, death, sorrow, poverty, hunger, fear and anxiety have been the daily companions of so many for too long. But through it all, God’s presence has sustained, comforted, healed.
Senior Pastor Stan Hood reminded us that there is always something to be thankful for and not to be concerned with the cares of life. “Don’t let what’s going on in your head make you forget who is over your life. He’s a way maker, miracle worker, healer, forgiver.” Pastor Hood reinforced our Lord’s care over our lives by stressing that we, “Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6).
The special Thanksgiving and testimony service served as a joyous reminder that every day is a day of Thanksgiving.
