| OUR COURT SYSTEM The United States has two court systems, Federal and State. They are similarly structured with one Supreme Court at the top, and a number of courts on the levels below. For example, beneath the U.S. Supreme Court there are a dozen Appeals Court, and beneath them about 90 District Courts.
