"Organized To Evangelize"
Cleveland Southeast Conducts Tent Crusade
The Cleveland Southeast congregation, one of Allegheny West's newest, conducted evangelistic meetings at the corner of Lee Road and Tarkington Street during the fall. The pastor, K.S. Smallwood, had already organized the membership into soul-winning teams. The result was good attendance at the meetings and full participation in the related community-help programs.
More than 200 children attended the two-week-long summer youth camp daily. Other young people were interested in the narcotics-education program that was offered. The inner-city medical van was utilized in conjunction with the meetings to screen 225 people for sickle-cell anemia, diabetes, and hypertension. The same lot that was used for the evangelistic tent will be the building site for the new Southeast Cleveland church.

Cleveland Southeast Church Organized
Pictured at left: President H.L. Cleveland passing applications for Membership to Conference Secretary James Washington
For many years there has been a great need for a church in the southeast section of Cleveland, Ohio. This need was realized June 22, 1974, when a church was organized in that area.
H.L. Cleveland, president of the Allegheny West Conference, led out in the organizational meeting. The pastors of the other two Cleveland churches, E.T. Mimms and Carlyle Skinner, were present to give their support to the new congregation.

K.S. Smallwood, pastor of the new church, formerly of the South Atlantic Conference, was feted by the congregation at a welcome social. One of the highlights was an original poem honoring the Smallwood family, written by Mrs. Ann Robinson.
Pastor Smallwood has set some high goals for this group. His plans include a permanent church home and making Southeast one of the major churches in the conference, as well as in the regional department.
Smallwood graduated from Oakwood College in 1965. He completed his seminary training at Andrews University in 1966. He and his wife have three children, Krystal Schevon, 7; King Solomon, Jr., 6; and Krasandra Suzetta, 3.
