Women of the Word (WOW) Conference 2009

“It’ Time to Wear God Out!”
On July 10-11, 2009, Going GodWard Ministries presented its 4th annual Women of the Word (WOW) conference at the Embassy Suites in Beach-wood, OH. Nine prayerful messengers of the King and women seeking worship, transformed a small meeting space into the upper room where the Holy Spirit poured out blessings on everyone present.
Each anointed speaker/psalmist brought a differ-ent message to help us understand our position: Posted on the Wall, our assignment: Stay on the Wall and our means of communicating with our Father: Wailin’ on the Wall.
The theme of the conference, “It’s Time to Wear God Out!” was taken from Isaiah 62: “I have set watch-men upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make men-tion of the Lord, keep not silence, And give him no rest, till he establish and make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.” (Isaiah 62: 6,7).
In her presentations, Posted on the Wall of Faith and Stay on the Wall: Carry Yourself in a Position of Authority, Dr. Carolyn Hurst (Southeast SDA Church/Going GodWard Ministries) reminded us that each person has a measure of faith, which may only be the size of a “grain” of the mustard seed. She asked the women worshippers, “ What is my “chinchey” (small) amount of faith seeing for me? What is faith hoping for me?” Dr. Hurst encouraged participants to keep on believing and to always carry ourselves in a position of authority.
In her message, “I’m Posted in my Position,” Lady Alisa Hood (New Hope Seventh-day Adventist Church) informed participants that our assignment is to constantly be about our Father’s business. Sa-tan will try to tear us down and keep us from our assignment, but we most not lose our position. With God’s help we can go through and not under!
Rev. Angela D. Lewis (All God’s Children UMC) and Minister Casey Orton (Zion Hill Baptist Church) gave personal testimonies that bore witness to the importance of being in position and staying on the wall. Although discouraged and unable to see His plan, Rev. Lewis stayed on the wall and God moved her into the blessing of a new church.
Minister Orton, formerly a single mother with dyslexia, was told she would never amount to much. She fiercely held her position and is now happily married to Pastor Elgin Orton of Zion Hill and is working on her Masters degree in Theology.
Rev. Gloria Chaney-Robinson (Antioch Baptist) spoke about the faith of the woman with the issue of blood who had to “touch the hem to get to HIM.” To illustrate her point, Rev. Chaney-Robinson passed out pieces of cloth representing garment hems. She suggested the women place the hems in their purses and when the challenges of life come, pull out the hems and start waving them around as a reminder that God rewards faithfulness!
Evangelist Dawsolene Burrell (Pursuing God’s Presence Ministries) and Psalmists Clara Parrish (Glenville SDA Church) and Joyce Jones (Calvary Ministries International) used their anointed voices and musical gifts to “soften the heart” in prepara-tion for the holy spirit’s outpouring.
On Sabbath, a very special supernatural experi-ence occurred when Rev. Denise Cunningham-Doggett (Bethany Christian Church) told partici-pants there was going to be a “shift in the atmos-phere.” With those words and humble supplications to God to give us “eyes to see and ears to hear,” the women in that room were ushered into the full pres-ence of the Lord. Attendees worshipped on a level many had never before experienced. The Holy Spirit was so powerful in that room, tears flowed, knees bowed and holy hands were lifted up to praise Him.
Dr. Hurst ended the powerful conference with her message, “From Wailin’ to Rejoicing.” She told wor-shippers, “We had to wail before the spirit fell and then we rejoiced as we entered into His courts. We must stay in position, posted on the wall and on our assignment, staying on the wall. We must wail on the wall and cry out to the Lord…wailing is the cry of the Heart. That’s what Isaiah 62 is: “The cry of God’s Heart.”
